CRA’s Dr. Scott Abel appointed Chief of Radiology at Heywood Healthcare

Dr. Scott Abel, MD, a distinguished diagnostic radiologist, has been an integral member of Commonwealth Radiology Associates (CRA) since joining the group in 2004. With over two decades of dedicated service, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional expertise and commitment. Currently serving as Treasurer and a member of CRA’s Board of Directors, Dr. Abel now steps into a new leadership role as Chief of Radiology at Heywood Healthcare.

This appointment coincides with CRA’s exciting new partnership with Heywood Healthcare, announced in June 2025. CRA will now provide comprehensive radiology services across the system’s two hospitals and nine satellite facilities, enhancing care throughout the region.

Dr. Abel completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and brings a special focus in musculoskeletal radiology to his practice.
