Practice Overview
Commonwealth Radiology Associates (CRA) is the largest private practice radiology group in Massachusetts, with over 47 radiologists and 3 physician assistants. We are a 100% physician-owned and operated group dedicated to independence, long-term growth, and work-life balance. CRA provides comprehensive imaging services across five hospital campuses and multiple outpatient centers throughout Massachusetts and Maine, utilizing both on-site and remote interpretation capabilities.
We are currently hiring across all subspecialties, with a particular need in abdominal imaging. Both on-site and remote positions are available. Many of our radiologists provide coverage for more than one location, with assignments tailored to individual preferences and geographic location.

We are seeking fellowship-trained abdominal imaging radiologists for multiple on-site or remote positions within our network.

Onsite Openings
General/Abdominal Radiologist
- Partnership Track: 1-year partnership track, no buy-in
- Employee: Full time
- Overview:
- Work Environment: Roughly one-third of shifts are remote, with the remainder on-site at the hospital or an affiliated outpatient imaging center.
- Case Mix: General CT, radiography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine/PET, fluoroscopy, and subspecialty MRI. Approximately 50% of the caseload will be in Abdominal Imaging. No mammography or procedural skills required.
- Volume: 55-65 RVU / Day
- Call Responsibilities:Evening call (5–8 PM) and weekend call are evenly distributed among partners and partnership track radiologists. Call is primarily handled remotely.
- Partner Paid Time Off: 10 weeks of vacation annually, plus an additional half-day off each week.

- Heywood Hospital – Gardner, MA
- Located 40 minutes from Worcester and approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Boston, this site is ideal for candidates residing in central Massachusetts or the Worcester region.
- Lowell General Hospital – Lowell, MA
- Situated in the northern suburbs of Boston, this location is well-suited for those living in the Merrimack Valley or surrounding areas.
- Melrose Wakefield Healthcare – Melrose/Stoneham, MA
- Just outside of Boston, this site offers convenient access for radiologists living in Boston or the northern suburbs.
- York Hospital – York, ME
- Nestled in a coastal town just over the New Hampshire border, York is approximately 45 minutes from Portland, ME, and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Boston—ideal for those seeking a scenic New England lifestyle.
- Heywood Hospital – Gardner, MA
Remote Openings
Remote Abdominal Radiologist
- Partnership Track: N/A
- Employment: Full time or part time 1099
- Overview:
- Schedule: M-F (8-5 PM EST) preferred, Calls and Weekends not required but available for extra pay
- Work Environment: Fully remote, no onsite coverage required.
- Case Mix: General CT, radiography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine/PET, fluoroscopy, and subspecialty MRI. Approximately 50% of the caseload will be in Abdominal Imaging. No mammography or procedural skills required.
- Volume: 55-65 RVU / Day
- Paid time Off: 10 weeks of vacation for full time radiologists
3-11 PM Shift
- Partnership Track: 1-year partnership track, no buy-in
- Employment: Full time, 1 week on / 1 week off
- Overview:
- Work Environment: Fully remote with no onsite duties. Would be reading for 2 hospital systems in MA.
- Case Mix: Overlap with the normal day shift from 3 pm – 5 pm, with outpatient studies and subspecialty MRI. After, 5 pm, predominantly ED/Inpatient CT, Radiographs, MRI, and US.
- Volume: ~60 RVU/shift
- Paid Time Off: 1 additional week of vacation during the year
