Commonwealth Radiology Associates Names Dr. Akira Murakami as New Group President
Commonwealth Radiology Associates (CRA) is excited to announce Dr. Akira Murakami as group President!
Dr. Murakami joined Commonwealth Radiology Associates, the largest private radiology practice in Massachusetts, in 2021. He previously served as the Section Head of Musculoskeletal Imaging at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine and at Tufts University Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Tufts School of Medicine.
With several articles featured in publications like Radiology and speakerships at conferences such as the New England Orthopedic Society, Radiologic Society of North America, Society of Skeletal Radiology, and International Skeletal Society, Dr. Murakami brings a wealth of radiology knowledge and
experience to his new role. He brings together experiences in both the private practice and academic realms.
“I am incredibly honored to assume the role of President of Commonwealth Radiology Associates,” notes Dr. Murakami. “I look forward to guiding CRA in this next phase.”
In March 2026, CRA’s Dr. Allan Hoffman stepped down from his role as President that he held for 18 years. Under Dr. Hoffman’s leadership, the group expanded into three new health systems in two states and experienced substantial growth.
“This is an exciting time for CRA,” says Dr. Hoffman. “I am eager to see what Dr. Murakami accomplishes in his tenure as president. Commonwealth Radiology Associates has a bright future ahead.”
